ALFALFA

The Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey

  • ALFALFA Fall Semester 2008: Completed Observations
  • Observations in the R.A. range from 22h to 3h in Fall 2005 targeted the tiles centered at +26 and +30 degrees. Our first priority in Fall 2006 was to complete the region fully from +24 to +32 degrees, filling in the gaps remaining from 2005. We (more or less) accomplished that objective. We also completed (more or less) coverage of the +12 degree tile, but did not make as much headway as planned on the +6 degree one.

A first data release of fall data was included in Saintonge et al 2008; see the links to Publications and Data above.

Because of the Arecibo structure painting project, no observations of the "fall" ALFALFA region were conducted in fall 2007. In 2008, we will try to obtain all the drifts to complete the +6 degree tile and then work on the +10 degree one.

The graphical summaries below indicate the A2010 coverage up to and including the spring 2008 observing season.

Yellow indicates planned observations in pass 1.
Green indicates completed observations in pass 1.
Gold indicates planned observations in pass 2.
Cyan indicates completed observations in pass 2.
Brown indicates poor quality data (hardware failure, gain instability or unusual rfi)
Pink indicates the area to be covered next (may be started but not completed in 2006)
