Description: (up to ~ 500 words)

In the current evolutionary scenario galaxies can undergo bar instability both from secular evolution and from interactions with the environment (galaxy-galaxy interactions, galaxy-cluster interactions...). In the latter case, the cluster environment is also expected to deplete the galaxies from their gas content. We are using near-infrared data, from UKIDSS LAS, to estimate the fraction of barred galaxies in the Virgo cluster in relation to their morphology. We will use the ALFALFA catalog in the region of Virgo cluster to cross-identify the selected galaxies from UKIDSS LAS and to have a measure of their HI mass. We are looking for a possible correlation between the bars and the gas deficiency, in relation both to morphology and stellar mass.
